8-bit? we want 1-bit music!

So many of might have heard of retro styled 8-bit electronic music and a fantastic place for this is over at micro music. But a guy called Tristan Perich has taken things a few steps back. This would normally interest me so much, but it's the delivery of the music which does. head on over to onebitmusic and see for your self.

New Voafose on Rephlex

Over on the Rephlex website they have added to their growing list of new releases CAT 182 CD: "Voafose"

If you don't know already Voafose is also know as Jeremy Simmonds, who work on "analoggins" under the Captain Voafose alias on Analord 6.

As of now it only looks like a CD release which is a shame, but one to look out for.

Blamstrain/Brothomstates

Well am I a happy bunny or what?

I'm a happy bunny! wey hey!

Word is that blamstrain and brothomstates are gonna release some collaboration work later this year. I'm really looking forward to what sould come based on what I have heard so far!

I have been a big B'states fan, and like most have been dying to hear any sign of new material from him. this should be good.

Also I will be checking out blamstrain, I have heard the name passed in conversation before but never really taken a good look! I will grab some vinyl soon and report back! for now though I suggest you drop by his site and check out his mp3's! it's all good!

Looks like Mr Lidell is going to grace our ears but this time with some hand picked live versions of his songs from multiply and some remixes but the likes of Mocky, Four Tet and Freeform Five.

The remixes should be interesting, but I'm mostly looking forward to hearing the live versions. I have had the pleasure of seeing him live and have to say that he was far better than any studio recording I have heard from him. I hope the raw energy of his live performances comes through in these songs. It's just a shame that only 2 tracks are live with the rest being remixes. One to look out for though.

It's out 29th may as a full length CD or 4 track sampler on vinyl.

PSP MEDIA SERVER

OK music peeps! If you have the wonderful blackness that is the psp and like me you aren't overly bothered with homebrew you might have updated your firmware to 2.6

If you did you might have noticed the RSS feeds now ready for your pleasure.

Well a few people have created some nice bits of code for us mere mortals to use which enable us to stream our mp3's on our pc direct to our psp through our wireless networks. This isn't something I'm normally gonna put on this blog but this deserves special mention. The one I'm talking about is called psp media server and was created by CJ. You can find out about it here on his blog. or you can download the latest version from here!

I had some trouble getting it started not because of the software he wrote but I had some issues with my pc which through "email table tennis" taking up a few hours of his time he sorted out for me. I have to say that I honestly didn't expect him to help me as much as he did and BIG thanks go to him!

So if you have a psp and lots of mp3's on your pc but want to listen to them in your garden in the summer or just in your front room like me where the BIG stereo lives then this is a fantastic way of getting it to work.

Frustrated Funk new release

I only heard of the Frustrated Funk label (FF) when the 12" from Der Zyklus landed the other week.

It's a sub label from Clone.

They have a new relase on the cards from Silicon, which will be their second release on FF. Samples can be found on the FF website (linked above).

If anyone can tell me why FF missed out the catalouge number FR005. they have done all the others from R001 to FR010 so would be intersting to find out.

New BOC for pre-order

Boards of Canada (boc) have their new EP Trans Canada Highway ready for pre-order from warpmart along with the obligatary downloads from bleep (preview only) It's not out untill the 6th June. So we have a while to go yet.

Alien plant things

They are rare on here but I did say I would stick a few in here and there!

This is a fantastic website with some great 3d aniamtion! check out the projects section on the site and watch the first video "sixes last"

There are some weird creepy alien plant things on plants right here on earth, the music is pretty cool as well.

What was I thinking?

For the past 3 days I have had the new Der Zuyklus 12" sitting wrapped up next to my deck!

What a fool! Stuck it on and pleasure of the most wonderfully German kind did greet my ears!

If you don't know of Der Zyklus then maybe you have heard of some of his other projects like Dopplereffekt, Japanese Telecom, and not forgetting Arpanet and Drexciya!!!
